ATLANTA – The last undefeated team in MCLA Division I fell on Saturday when Cal Poly downed California, opening the door for Grand Caynon to take over the top spot in the Under Armour MCLA Division I Coaches Poll.
The Lopes breezed to the top spot, snaring 21 of the 25 first place votes, pushing them 51 points clear of second-ranked Colorado.
The Buffs, No. 3 Georgia Tech (two first place votes) and No. 4 Cal Poly (1) were separated by just three points. Former No. 1 California slipped to No. 5 in the poll.
San Diego State departed the poll this week, making room for Northeastern, Texas and Simon Fraser thanks to a three-way tie in the No. 25 spot.
