ATLANTA – On the strength of 17 first place votes, Chapman has surged into the top spot of the Under Armour MCLA Division I Weekly Coaches Poll.
The Panthers (9-0) defeated SLC North foe USC on Sunday, propelling Chapman past new No. 2 Utah (8-0), which was idle this week. The Utes grabbed the remaining nine first place votes.
Colorado (7-1) jumped into the No. 3 spot after knocking off defending national champion and former No. 3 Grand Canyon on Saturday. The Lopes (6-2) dropped to No. 6.
Despite suffering its first loss of the season, Michigan State (9-1) didn’t budge in the polls, remaining at No. 4. South Carolina (9-0) rounds out the Top 5.
Northeastern (2-1) exited this week’s poll, making room for the return of Colorado State. The Rams check back in at No. 22 on the strength of a win over Grand Canyon.
