Cal, Cal Poly Lead WCLL-I Field

SAN FRANCISCO – After rolling undefeated through their respective subdivision of the Western Collegiate Lacrosse League (WCLL), California and Cal Poly will be the top seeds in the conference tournament that begins with first round action on April 20 at home sites.

Cal (12-0, 3-0 WCLL) and Cal Poly (8-3, 4-0) will receive byes into the semifinals, which will be held at Rancho Cotate High School in Rohnert Park, Calif., on April 27-28.

2019 WCLL DIVISION I TOURNAMENT BRACKET

The Golden Bears will draw the winner of the contest between Stanford (8-3, 3-1), the second seed out of the South division, and Sonoma State (5-6, 1-2), the third seed out of the North. The pair met earlier this year in Palo Alto with the Cardinal prevailing, 7-4.

The Mustangs face the victor of the clash between South second seed Nevada (4-4, 2-1) and North third seed Santa Clara (6-5, 2-2). The two teams did not meet this spring.

The winner of the WCLL tournament will receive an automatic qualifying bid to the 2019 MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour, which will be held in Salt Lake City from March 6-11.

“The winner of the WCLL is a real threat to win the national championship,” said WCLL president Aaron Myers.

In total, there will be four nationally-ranked teams participating in the tournament: No. 1 Cal, No. 9 Cal Poly, No. 17 Stanford and No. 22 Santa Clara.

Admission to the WCLL Division I semifinals and finals will be $10 for adults, $5 students and free for children under 8.

All six games of the of the WCLL Division I tournament will be streamed live.

First Round – April 20
GAME 1: #3N Sonoma State at #2S Stanford, 1 p.m.
GAME 2: #3S Santa Clara at #2N Nevada, 1 p.m.

Semifinals – April 27
GAME 1 winner vs. #1N California, 12 p.m.
GAME 2 winner vs. #1S Cal Poly, 3 p.m.

Finals – April 28
Semifinal winners, 12 p.m.
