D-II Invitational Field Set

April 29th, 2021 General News | Mo. State | Montana | NDSU | St. Thomas

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Four MCLA Division II teams will converge on the Twin Cities for the first – and hopefully last – “Covid Cup” Invitational on May 8-9.

The event will feature Missouri State, Montana, North Dakota State and St. Thomas and will be held at the McMurray Fields in St. Paul, Minn.

“We created this invitational to allow the best that D-II has to offer this year a chance to compete against one another to decide who is the best D-II team playing this season,” said Missouri State coach Donnie Curran. “We felt that this was the best option to give these players an opportunity to be on an evenly matched platform and create the most competitive and exciting games possible.”

Saturday’s games will both start at 12:45 p.m. CDT. On Field 1, Missouri State will square off with St. Thomas while Montana battles North Dakota State on Field 2.

The winners on Saturday meet on Sunday on Field 1 while the consolation round will be on Field 2. Both games start at 12:45 p.m.

All competing teams must provide a completed covid screening form before leaving their campus. Once the teams have arrived in Minnesota, they must abide by the local COVID restrictions set in place by the state and county.

Each team must also provide a completed screening form for each day prior to heading to the field.

All four of the games will be livestreamed.

“Growing the game we all love is the goal of all of ours and nothing does that better than putting the best teams against each other at whatever level that may be, from high school to NCAA Division I,” said Curran. “We all just want to watch a great game.”
